Ceremonial Launch of the New Dry Production Line at Kant Cement Plant: A Step into the Future of Kyrgyzstan’s Cement Industry

01.07.2025

On June 16, 2025, the Kant Cement Plant marked a historic milestone with the launch of a new dry-process cement production line. Symbolically, the ceremony was personally inaugurated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Japarov, underscoring the strategic significance of the project for the entire nation.

The event was also attended by:

  • Daniyar Zholdoshevich Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic
  • Iskender Esengeldievich Asylkulov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic
  • Ulan Bekbolotovich Maylibashev, Mayor of Kant
  • Representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB)
  • Representatives of Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNBM)
  • Leadership of United Cement Group (UCG), including Chairman of the Board Andreas Kern and CEO Serik Kazbekovich Ukanov
  • Partners, colleagues, and the staff of Kant Cement Plant JSC

Synergy of Technologies: Wet + Dry Processes

The new line is part of an ambitious plant modernization project led by United Cement Group with financial backing from the EDB and technical support from the Chinese engineering firm Beijing Triumph. The total investment amounted to $60 million, with 80% financed by the EDB and 20% provided by UCG.

This project is unique in that it combines existing wet-process lines—used for producing specialized cement types—with a cutting-edge dry-process line focused on large-scale production of Portland cement. As a result, the plant’s total capacity can now reach 1.5 million tons of cement per year.

Built to modern international standards, the new line boasts a daily clinker production capacity of 3,000 tons, equating to 1 million tons annually. Key components include:

  • A rotary kiln
  • A five-stage cyclone preheater
  • A precalciner
  • A roller press
  • An automated SCADA-based control system

Environmental protection is a top priority: bag filters are installed at every stage of production, reducing air emissions to below 30 mg/m³, which is effectively a near-zero level.

Fast-Track Implementation and Future Sustainability

The project was completed in a record 17 months, starting from the groundbreaking in November 2023. Commissioning began in April 2025.

Special emphasis was placed on localizing construction and training personnel, which not only accelerated project timelines but also ensured long-term operational sustainability.

The production line is equipped with two online analyzers that automatically adjust raw mix compositions. All production stages—from raw materials to final cement packaging—are monitored and controlled in real time from a central control room.

A Model for the Region

The Kant Cement Plant plays a key role in UCG’s production network, alongside its plants in Uzbekistan: Kyzylkumcement JSC, Bekabadcement JSC, and Kuvasaycement JSC. The Group is steadily implementing a sustainable development strategy focused on energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, automation, and digitalization of production.

The launch of the new dry line at Kant Cement Plant represents a vision of the future for Kyrgyzstan’s and Central Asia’s cement industry: investment, international collaboration, and technological innovation in harmony with environmental responsibility.
